1 T yeast
2 T sugar
1 1/2 C warm water
1 tsp salt
3 1/2 C flour
1/2 to 1 cube butter (depending on your taste)
Dissolve the first three ingredients and let sit for about 10 minutes until bubbly (this means that the yeast is activated). Add salt and flour and knead for 5-10 minutes. Cover and let rise until double in size. Melt butter; pour on baking sheet. Roll out dough in a rectangle shape, a little less than 1/2" thick. Cut in 1" strips, fold in half and twist. Roll in the butter when placing them on the cookie sheet. Sprinkle with whatever you like... parmesan cheese, garlic salt, sesame seeds... or just leave plain. Let rise for 10-15 minutes. Bake at 375 for 15-18 minutes.
If you have leftovers, a good way to store them is to freeze them. Separate the breadsticks and place on a cookie sheet in the freezer for about 15 minutes or so. Then place them in a plastic bag in the freezer.
